Australia and Iraq will face each other in their second group match in Asian Cup 2007. Both Iraq and Australia drew their first match and could not impress the fans. Iraq played against weak Thailand in their first match which was a draw by 1-1. The same result occurred in Australia vs. Oman. Australia started the tournament as one of the most favorites to win the cup but in the first match they lost point to underdog Oman. Their players could not play expectedly and the overall performance of Australia was not satisfactory though they could create quiet a few chances but theirs strikers missed those chances.
The same thing happened in the Thailand vs. Iraq match where Iraq lost point to underdog Thailand. Here, it is notable that Thailand started the tournament as underdog but as the tournament progresses; Thailand is emerging as the giant killer in the Group A. Thailand won their second group match against Oman.
So, you can see for both Iraq and Australia, the coming match is going to be like a do or die match. The loosing team will be in trouble as Thailand is now in a good position in the group. Australia has some star players like Mark Viduka, Harry Kewell ect. On the other hand, though Iraq does not have any high profile star, they have some young energetic footballers in the team. So, I think the Iraq vs. Australia will be very competitive.
