English Premier League 2007-2008: Chelsea Captain John Terry to Face Challenges in the Coming Season

English Premier League 2007-2008 will be started from 11 August 2007. Now, the clubs are busy with the player transferring issues and are organizing the line up ahead of the new season. However, John Terry, the Chelsea defender, is now facing some pressure to hold his place in the final eleven of Chelsea F.C.

England captain John Terry is, for sure, going to face challenges from new Chelsea recruit Israeli defender Tal Ben Haim. Moreover, Glen Johnson who spent last season in Portsmouth on loan has recently come back to the team. So, John Terry and his long time defense partner in Chelsea, Ricardo Carvalho, are now under pressure. For Chelsea, the last Premier League season was not satisfactory as they lost their championship title to Manchester united though they could win the FA Cup 2006-2007 title defeating Manchester United by 1-0 in the final of the tournament.

Teamtalk reported:
Terry declared: "It's very exciting when you know you've got players behind you always pushing. You can't let a performance go astray. If you do, the manager or the other players behind you are going to be knocking at your door. So every game is vitally important to keeping your place.
"No-one is safe, no-one at all. The manager made that quite clear to me when he gave me the armband. I certainly know that with Chelsea and England and I definitely won't be taking that for granted this season.

John Terry is confident to play in the coming FA Community Shield 2007 match against Manchester United. The match will be held on August 5, 2007. John Terry is expected to play a big role in the match as well as in the next season. Here, it is notable that Chelsea finished the last Premier League season second behind Manchester United.
