Asian Cup 2007: Iraq vs Korea Live Update

Japan and Saudi Arabia will face each other in the second semi-final of the Asian Cup 2007. Japan vs Saudi Arabia match will be held on 25th July, 2007. Yesterday on 21 July 2007, Japan defeated Australia in penalty shootout in the first quarter final match. Today on 22 July 2007, Saudi Arabia could ensure their qualifying in the semi final stage beating Uzbekistan by 2-1 in the last quarter final match of the tournament. Japan vs Saudi Arabia match will have a good amount of excitement as both the teams are favorites for winning the cup.
Japan and Saudi Arabia both are the three time winners of Asian Cup. So, for both the teams, this is a big chance to take the lead. It is, for sure, that either Japan or Saudi Arabia will have to experience their exit from the championship after the semi final match and on the other hand, the winner will further progress in the final. So, the players, team officials and fans of both the sides will go through a huge pressure ahead of this important match.
Japan is the defending champion of the last two Asian Cup tournaments. So, their goal is now to win the cup for third consecutive times. Earlier, Iran also won Asian Cup tournaments for three consecutive times (1968, 1972, and 1976). There is no doubt, Japan is one of the Asian football powers and some of their players are currently playing in different European leagues. Japan could qualify in World Cup Football tournament for three times so far and their best performance was qualifying for the second round of 2002 World Cup tournaments.
Saudi Arabia is another football power from Asia. They won Asian Cup for three times in the past and were runner up twice. Saudi Arabia won their last Asian Cup championship in 1996 but in the last Asian Cup in 2004, Saudi Arabia’s performance was disastrous as they could fail to qualify in the semi final stage of the tournament. Saudi Arab played in World Cup for four occasions and their best ever world cup performance was in 1992 world cup as they could get in to the 2nd round of the tournament.
From the very beginning, Japan has been playing very well in Asian Cup 2007 and some of their players are in good form so they are getting good exposure from those players. However, Japan started the tournament through an ordinary draw with Qatar but, with the time passed, Japan could retain their form in the tournament and started playing well. From the second Group Match Japan got back in the right track and started playing like a favorite team of Asian Cup 2007. In the second match, Japan defeated UAE by 3-1 and in the last group match; Japan got another big win of 4-1 over Vietnam, another quarter finalist from Group B. However, the quarter final match against mighty Australia was not so easy for the Japanese as they had to beat Australia in penalty shootout.
Saudi Arabia also started their Asian Cup 2007 campaign through a draw against South Korea. However, from the second match, they started playing well and they easily got into the quarter final round. In the second group match, Saudi Arabia defeated Indonesia by 2-1 and in the last group match; Saudi Arabia got an easy win of 4-0 against Bahrain.
Japan vs Saudi Arab match has a huge significance as it is a matter of prestige for both Japan and Saudi Arabia. Another thing I want to mention here is that both the teams have some young players who will be the future star of their football. So, through the match, fans will have a chance to look at the new generation footballers of Japan and Saudi Arabia. In addition, there will be another fight between Japanese striker Naohiro Takahara and Saudi striker Yasser Al-Qahtani. Takahara is the leading goal scorer of Asian Cup 2007 with four goals. On the other hand, Yasser Al-Qahtani of Saudi Arabia scored 3 goals in the tournaments. So, both the strikers will try to win the Golden Shore as the highest goal scorer of Asian Cup 2007.
Anyway, it would hard to predict anything about the match. However, to some extent, Japan is ahead of Saudi Arabia as Japan has some inform star footballers. Moreover, Japanese players are energetic and skill too. On the other hand, Saudi Arabian footballers are young and always try to give 100 percent effort but they lack in skill. However, before the semi final, now both the teams are trying to figure out their problems and find possible solutions. Coaches are making their strategies and planning ahead of the important match of Asian Cup 2007. I hope, fans will see some good football from both the teams. So, do not miss even a single bit of the match and be stick to your TV set.
