Asian Cup 2007: Japan and UAE to Face Each Other in a Crucial Match

In an important match of Group B, Japan will face United Arab Emirates on Friday July 13 in Asian Cup 2007. Both Japan and United Arab Emirates are now under pressure as both the teams lost points in their opening match of the tournament. Japan is one of the favorite teams in the tournament and they are the defending champion. However, in the first match, they drew against Qatar by 1-1. On the other hand, United Arab Emirates lost to underdog Vietnam by 0-2. So, ahead of the today’s match, both the teams are determined to win and they are ready to take the full 3 points of the match in order to progress to the next round. Bruno Metsu, the coach of United Arab Emirates, has said that they need to take point from the match and their players will try to achieve maximum points from the match.

The United Arab Emirates coach Bruno Metsu_who made his reputation by guiding unfancied Senegal to the quarterfinals of the 2002 World Cup_said Thursday that his team will aim to pull off an upset.
"We definitely need to get points from tomorrow's match," Metsu said. "We will try our best to get as many points as possible."
Japanese coach Ivica Osim said he had been hired by Japanese football authorities not just to defend the Asian Cup title for the third time, but look toward the 2010 World Cup.
"The important target of the Japanese team is for the World Cup," the Bosnian coach said through a translator. "All I try to do is to improve Japanese team's performance for the next World Cup."

So, you can see the importance of the coming match for both Japan and United Arab Emirates. It is not possible to guess anything regarding the match but it is clear that Japan is favorite in the match and UAE is the underdog. However, Asian Cup 2007 has already seen many upsets and who knows there will not be any more upsets in the tournament.
