If you are a fan of tennis then you must know about Ana Ivanovic by this time. This Serbian tennis star is now thought to be the next star in the tennis world. Ivanovic emerged as the new star in 2007 with some exclusive performance in Grand Slam tournaments. In French Open 2007, she reached at the final and in Wimbledon 2007; she could manage to play in the semi-final. Currently Ana Ivanovic is the no. 5th ranked women’s tennis star according to WTA ranking.
However, success did not come so easily to this 19 year old tennis player. In her childhood she used to play in a waterless swimming-pool making a makeshift tennis court in it.
Courier News reported:
Holzmann, co-owner of a successful vitamin company, had heard about Ivanovic from his tennis instructor, a man of Serbian descent. Soon after, 14-year-old Ivanovic and her parents flew to meet Holzmann in
Intrigued and aware that Ivanovic's sponsor was facing bankruptcy, he agreed to provide an interest-free loan for coaching, travel and equipment that eventually reached $500,000.
"I asked Ana what she wanted from life," Holzmann said of the day they met. "She looked me in the eye and replied, 'I want to be No. 1 in the world.' I was smitten at that moment. I took a quick decision that I would help her with financial assistance."
It turned out to be one of his best investments. Ivanovic, who has earned more than $2.5 million in prize money, paid back the loan within two years of turning pro, and Holzmann is now her full-time business manager.
So, you can see Ana Ivanovic struggled in her life to reach at today’s level and no doubt, she has to go a long way to become the world no. 1 that is her ultimate goal. I know that at this moment, Ana is thinking of improving her game and wants to better performance in the upcoming U.S. Open 2007. However, I hope Ana Ivanovic will do something for those under privileged Serbian young players who have the same spirit and potential in them to flourish in future. At least, Ana can follow the way of Holzmann and thus she can do something for the young children.
