Ana Ivanovic and Monica Seles

I was a very big fan of Monica Seles. I often feel that Seles was the best female player of the last 20 years. She was very unlucky to get stabbed by a crazy man and had to leave tennis. But on a very short time, Monica Seles could make a huge impact on female tennis. It seems that I am not the only fan of Seles. Ana Ivanovic is also a big fan of Seles. In fact, Ivanovic got crazy for playing tennis because she was greatly inspired by Seles.

Telegraph wrote:

She would prefer to model herself on her childhood idol, Monica Seles, who amassed nine grand-slam titles in a splendid career spanning 15 years.

Ivanovic was four when the Yugoslavian-born Seles won the second of her four Australian Opens in 1992 and recalls being awestruck to the point that she begged her mother to buy her a racket for her fifth birthday and let her join a Belgrade tennis club.

Of course, Ivanovic is yet to match with the tremendous record of Seles but she has the potential to do so.
