Jasper Morrison: The Designer of Samsung SGH-E590

Jasper Morrison is a famous designer. He nearly 48 years old and he is a renowned name in product and furniture designing. He is involved with industrial design for nearly 2 decades. Morrison loves to experiment with new things and this pioneering attitude has paid off a lot. From his student life, he knew what he wanted to be and he has accomplished some high profile projects as a designer.

Design Museum wrote about Jasper Morrison:

Critically, Morrison's clients have also allowed him to experiment with new materials and technologies. The results include his 1999 Low Pad Chair for Cappellini, which was inspired by one of Morrison's favourite mid-20th century chairs - the Danish designer, Poul Kjaerholm's 1956 steel and leather Chair, but used a new method of condensed upholstery to create a comfortable, but durable padded leather seat. Another technical coup is his 1999 Air Chair, an elegant, relatively inexpensive moulded dining chair made from a single piece of plastic using Magis's new gas injection technology.

His latest high profile work is the design of SGH-E590 cell phone set of Samsung. Samsung is one of the leading players in the cell phone industry in Asia. This fashionable E590 set will reach many people and may be not all of them will know that it was Morrison who came up with this brilliant design.

About the design of SGH-E590, HTlounge wrote:

Jasper Morrison of England has taken his designing expertise over to Samsung to help the Korean manufacturer create the SGH-E590 candybar cell phone. Clearly taking on a very minimalist approach, the Samsung E590 doesn't look like much. It's got generic looking buttons, a rather plain back side, and not much in between. But that's exactly its appeal -- it "comes in simple contous and clean lines."

I hope that it wont be the last time Jasper Morrison designs a mobile phone set. He surely knows how to make good design.
