Ahead of the most prestigious major golf tournament,
Phil Mickelson has won the Masters twice in three years but his collapse at Winged Foot Golf Club at last year's U.S. Open has many convinced he'll have problems coping with a major championship. Toms thinks otherwise.
"You look at him as one of the guys you have to beat in major championships now," Toms said. "Obviously at Winged Foot he put himself in that situation, he screwed up, and he's the first one to tell you that he did. You look at him as one of the guys you have to beat in major championships now. It was that way before, but he's won three of them now. Now he knows he can do it so it makes him endure."
As for himself, Toms said, "It's been a good start to the year for me, solid.
"I think it's time for me to start contending a little bit," he said. "I'm going to be playing a lot in the next two to three months. So I feel good about it.
"I've always been kind of streaky. This time last year, I had already won a tournament and was playing very well. I was putting the ball extremely well. Right now I'm putting good, but not making everything like last year. Who knows? It only takes really one round to turn that around."
I think that the players who are going to take part in The US Masters 2007 are the best golfers of the world. So, it should not be a right task to make anyone out of the count. Moreover, the tournament deserves something special from the participants considering the attire of The US Masters. I hope the coming tournament will have some exciting moments for the players as well as the fans throughout the world.
