Tennis is one of the popular sporting events in the world. Its passion and glory are not less than any of other sports event. It is also said that tennis is glamorous, fashionable and highly expensive events in the world. I found top five ranked players of both male and female, who are in the driving seat of the today’s world tennis.

Amelie Mauresmo
Mauresmo is the current number one ranked player in the women’s tennis. Her powerful single handed backhand shot makes her different form other women players as it is hardly found among the women. She won two grand slams including Australian Open and Wimbledon in her career and both of those she got in 2006. She possesses power to play shots. She also became the world number one in 2004 for five weeks and became the first French women in the world to have become the world number one after launching the computer ranking in 1970. She started playing tennis when she was 4. She also got many successes in the junior levels. She first came in to the light after reaching final of the Australian Open in 1999 at her 19. In her career she ahs 23 career title. She earned $11,998,495 in her career.

Justine Henin-hardenne
Hardenne is the current number two in the world ranking. This Belgian won five grand slams in her career including Australian Open, French Open for three times consecutively and U.S. Open. She also became champion in five ITF tournaments in her early stage of tennis. She became the fifth WTA Tour winner who could win this tour at debut in 1999. She also became the number one ranked player and was awarded the International Tennis Federation’s Women’s Singles World Champions for 2003. In her career she won 28 titles. Her career earning is $12,019,473. In 2006 she was also appointed by UNESCO champion for sport.

Kim Clijsters
This Belgian is one of the famous players of this time. She is now the world number 3 in the WTA rankings. Clijsters is well-known for her groundstroke and defense power. Her only grand slam success was in 2005 in U.S. Open. She became runner-up in three grand slams tournaments. She ranked number one in 2003. Her grand slam titles do not go with his career title numbered 32. She was also became the number one in the doubles in 2003. In 2000 she became the WTA newcomer of the year. This Russian tennis talent is the world number 4 at this time. Sharapova won the Wimbledon in 2004 which is the only grand slam for this 19 year old glamorous girl. Not only is she a star for her tennis skills to her fans but she looks very beautiful too. She was the number one in the ranking in 2005. She became the WIA Player of the year in 2005.

Rafael Nadal is the current world no. 2 in the raking. He is only the third player to be reached in that ranking within the teenage years. He has already won two grand slams in 2005 and 2006 and both of the two were in the French Open. He defeated the no. one Roger Federer in the final of his last grand slam title. He just started his professional; career in 2001. His pace and physical fitness help him to be defensive and his power made him one of the talented players of the clay court.
