Wayne Rooney: Chelsea Could Strengthen Their Title Hope

Manchester United is currently leading the Premier League point table with 54 points from 24 matches and currently holds a 5-point lead over second placed Arsenal and a 10-point lead over fourth placed Chelsea. So, it is pretty much clear that Chelsea has already fallen behind off the title race.

However, Manchester United star Wayne Rooney, who scored twice in United’s 3-1 recent victory over Aston Villa, believes that Chelsea could still make a comeback to the title race with a series of wins in the coming weeks. Here, it is noteworthy that Chelsea invested around £70 million to clinch two deadline day deals for Fernando Torres and David Luiz.

However, Rooney has also added that whether Chelsea can close the gap with Manchester United depends on the performance of the Red Devils in the coming months.

Wayne Rooney is happy after scoring a brace on Tuesday as his scoring form is not satisfactory at all this season. He has scored only 4 goals in Premier League so far which is a stark contrast with his last season’s form.

Manchester United did not have a very good start to the season, but the Red Devils have been performing on a consistent basis over the last 2 or 3 months, while Chelsea struggled a lot towards the end of the last year and Arsenal also suffered number of slip ups. So, it became easier for United to move to the top of the table.

Wayne Rooney: Manchester United Cannot be Invincible Like Arsenal

In this season, until now, Manchester United has played 16 matches in English Premier League and has not lost even one match. This has raised a lot of expectation among many supporters that club can go undefeated and match the success of Arsenal in 2003-04 season. However, Wayne Rooney thinks that it will not happen but there is a strong possibility that Manchester United will win the Championship this time.
Arsenal in that season won 26 matches and drew 12. Until now, Manchester United has played only 16 matches so far this season and they have to play another 22 matches. So, it will not be that easy and in this season, we have already seen that just all the top clubs are losing points.
For example, right now in the league table, just eight points separate the top seven clubs. And then just 6 points separate another 11 clubs. So, it is going to be an unpredictable season.
I agree with Wayne Rooney about this matter but I don’t think that Manchester United will be able to become champion that easily. It is really too early to say who will win the league table in EPL. Perhaps something will change in the January transfer window and top clubs will try to get some better players.

Wayne Rooney: I will be Fit for England Duty against Montenegro

Wayne Rooney has assured England manager Fabio Capello of his availability for England’s upcoming match against Montenegro on 12 October at the Wembley Stadium. The Manchester United striker picked up an injury during his side’s 2-2 draw against Bolton Wanderers.

Though initially it looked Rooney would have to sit out for 3 weeks, but now manager Sir Alex Ferguson expects him to be fully fit for the international duty. In fact, Rooney is reportedly interested to be involved in today’s Premier League fixture at Sunderland, but given his recent injury problems and lackluster performances, he is less likely to play at the Stadium of Light.

Wayne Rooney has come under pressure since his poor display in the World Cup, and controversies surrounding his private life has just compounded to his pressure. Even though Rooney dismissed that off-field issues were not affecting his on-field performances, the striker’s recent form does not support his claim.

Rooney is still struggling for his from and he believes that he can only get better by playing as much football as possible. He said, “I'll be fit [for England]. Hopefully [Fabio] Capello plays me but I'll be 100% fit, yeah. He (Ferguson) knows that I want to play in that game and I'm sure he wants me to play as well…

My performances could be better. I obviously missed pre-season and I've only played four or five games this season, but the more games that you play, the better your form will become, so I'm hoping to get a run of games.”

Wayne Rooney’s private life suffered a huge blow recently when the news of his illegal relationship with prostitute Jennifer Thompson came out in public.

Wayne Rooney Looking to Return for Sunderland Game

Wayne Rooney is always known as a team man who plays for the team first before playing for himself. It seems that he is going to prove it once again. The English star picked up a groin injury during practice last Tuesday and missed the 3-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur. Since then, there was speculation that he would miss Manchester United’s last two games of the season. Both the games are important for Manchester United as they are currently one point behind the leader Chelsea. So, they have to win both the games and expect a slip-up for Chelsea who are going to face Liverpool this weekend.

Rooney was advised to take rest with world cup football coming up next. However, considering the situation of the league, he is now reportedly trying to make a quick come back for Sunday’s match against Sunderland. Few weeks back, he made a similar come back from an ankle injury just before suffering the groin injury.

Well, this could be good news for the Manchester United fans, but England supporters would be worried about it because if he rushes himself for a quick come back and then suffers another injury, he could even miss England’s world cup mission.

Can Wayne Rooney Return This Season?

Manchester United fans are expecting that striker Wayne Rooney would come back for the last two premier league games after recovering his groin injury sustained during training. However, his comeback this season is in doubt and Manchester United may have to play the last two games without Rooney.

Rooney has been in sparkling form this season as he scored 34 goals so far. More importantly, United does not have any other inform striker at the moment who can replace Rooney. Michael Owen and Berbatov could not make any significant impact so far. More than that, United is now only 1 point behind leader Chelsea with two rounds of games remaining in the league.

Sir Alex Ferguson said that he would wait for the player until the last minute. Well, it would be interesting to see if Manchester United can keep up the momentum without Rooney. Another thing is that it would not be right to rush Rooney ahead of England’s world cup mission.
