US Open 2007: Maria Sharapova Experienced a Third Round Exit

Maria Sharapova has lost to Polish Agnieszka Radwanska in her third round match. So, Sharapova’s campaign to defend her US Open title has been stopped with this defeat. Maria Sharapova was the defending champion of US Open. Second seed Sharapova was one of the strongest contenders to win the US Open 2007 title. The year 2007 was not so good for this Russian beauty queen. Maria Sharapova could not win any grand slam tournament this year. So, it was earlier expected that Sharapova will bounce back in US Open 2007.

Agnieszka Radwanska is definitely now delighted for such a memorable win. The 18 years old Polish now must be determined to get something bigger from US Open 2007. Agnieszka Radwanska won the match in three sets. Sharapova lost the match by 4-6, 6-1, 2-6. In the last set she took the lead 2-0. However, Agnieszka Radwanska did not give any chance to Sharapova.

Canada.com reported:
"I had nothing to lose, just hit every ball, and I did it," Radwanska told the crowd.
While Sharapova struggled on serve in breezy conditions and produced 12 double faults, Radwanska stood well inside the baseline to return serve and snatched the first set by the odd break.
"I knew that she hates it if somebody moves when she is serving," Radwanska said.
"So I knew I had a chance if I did it and she made so many errors on her second serve."

It is really one of the bad tournaments for Maria Sharapova. Her third round exit from US Open 2007 is her worst grand slam performance since US Open 2004. I think, Sharapova will be able to get back her rhythm and will start the new season with sheer success. On the other hand, Agnieszka Radwanska has now enough confidence to go ahead. So, the victory against Maria Sharapova can be an inspiration for Agnieszka Radwanska.
