Rugby World Cup 2007: New Zealand Gets Warm Reception in Marseille

Rugby world cup 2007 is going to be started from 7 September 2007. The tournament will be held in France. New Zealand is one of the favorite of the tournament. New Zealand won their last world cup in 1987 in the first world cup competition. It is true that 20 years have gone, New Zealand could not yet got their second world cup title.

New Zealand rugby team has recently reached at the Marseilles where they got a warm reception from the people of Marseilles. The fans were eagerly waiting to see the star. All Blacks (New Zealand) captain McCaw is very happy getting such a reception from the city fans. In reply, he thanked the fans in French. The fans were cheering all the time.

Stuff.co.nz reported:
Speaking in French was a McCaw masterstroke. It won him a legion of French admirers at the ceremony at Marseille's quay-side Town Hall.
But the champion flanker admitted he was nervous before his brief address. French was not on the McCaw menu at Otago Boys High School, but he had help in preparing his short speech from team interpreter Akli Lafdal, a teacher and rugby coach at Christchurch's St Thomas of Canterbury high school.

New Zealand captain McCaw was really very excited having got such a welcome. McCaw thinks that French fans will accept them as their second home team. Actually it is really nice to have warm reception and outside support sometimes make the things easier for the players. Now, let us if New Zealand can retain their world cup title getting the support of French fans.
