Samoa is not a big team in the rugby world. They are one of the minor teams in rugby world cup. Samoa participated in four rugby world cup tournaments. They first participated in 1991 world cup and from then on they never missed any world cup yet. However, to tell the truth, their performance graph is going down day by day. In the first world cup, Samoa could reach at quarter final stage. However, in the last world cup in 2003, they had to experience an early exit from pool stage.
Samoa is going to play in Pool A where they have to face two world cup champions. Defending champion England and former champion South Africa are most favorites to qualify for the quarter final stage. So, apparently Samoa is going to experience another early exit in Rugby world cup 2007. However, Samoa fans can expect something better in the match against Tonga and USA. Here, I am giving the pool stage schedule of Samoa below:
Poll A
Date | Competing Teams | Venue | Referee |
9-9-2007 | Samoa vs South Africa | Paris | Paul Honiss (New Zealand) |
16-9-2007 | Samoa vs Tonga | Montpellier | Jonathan Kaplan (South Africa) |
22-9-2007 | Samoa vs England | Nantes | Alan Lewis (Ireland) |
26-9-2007 | Samoa vs USA | St-Etienne | Wayne Barnes (England) |
Samoa has already declared their 30 men world cup squad. Captain Semo Sititi is going to appear in his third world cup campaign. There are some players including prop Kasiano Lealamanua, hooker Mahroni Schwalger, scrum half Steve So’oialo and wing Lome Fa’atau who are going to play their second world cup campaign.
