With demands for tablet PC soaring, the overall Personal Computer (PC) market could see a 14% yearly growth in 2011. A recent study by Canalys, a research firm, has revealed it.
The study also indicates that tablet PC sales will see a significant rise in 2011. The increasing popularity of tablets will definitely affect the netbook sales, though notebook market will enjoy a healthy 8% growth this year.
According to Canalys, 52 million tablet PCs will be shipped throughout the world in 2011 and Apple’s iPad will hold more than 75% share of the total market. However, the number of actual tablet sales will hit around 50.5 million, a 200% jump over last year’s total sold units. What is more surprising is that tablet sales in the enterprise market could increase 5000% to around 1.1 million.
The research firm also believes that extensive growth in the tablet PC market will not affect the notebook market much mainly because of the current Windows 7 refresh. On the other hand, as Canalys says, netbook sales will be decreased by 13% to 34 million.
However, the research firm predicts that netbook and notebook will enjoy a healthy growth in the markets like India, China, Turkey, Russia, Brazil and Indonesia where Apple iPad has limited presence.
