Arsenal Chasing French Midfielder Blaise Matuidi

Reports available in the media suggest that Arsenal has been chasing French midfielder Blaise Matuidi who is currently playing for Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne. Known as a physically strong defensive midfielder, the Angola-born French international is expected to fit the bills well for Arsene Wenger.

Insidefutbol website reports that Wenger has been tracking the 23-year-old promising star and could make move for the player in the summer. Arsenal scout Gilles Grimandio recommended Matuidi to Wenger around two years back and it seems Arsenal boss is now very serious about signing the player.

Arsenal recently lost to Barcelona 3-1 in Europe and many believe that their inability to cut opposition’s passes and through balls in the midfield was one of the reasons they could not dominate in the match. Gunners missed their first choice defensive midfielder Alex Song through injury, and his replacement Abou Diaby was not up to the mark.

The good news for Wegner is that Blaise Matuidi has a release clause in his contract and the amount is reportedly within the reach of the North London club.
