Arsenal Missing Robin van Persie and Laurent Koscielny against Stoke City

Arsenal is facing Stoke City tonight at the Emirates stadium in a Premier League match, but the Gunners would miss two of their regular players: Robin van Persie and Laurent Koscielny. Both the players are injured and manager Arsene Wenger does not want to take any risk ahead of the Carling Cup final on 27 February.

Robin van Persie has been in superb form since coming back from injury and has scored 5 goals in the last 3 matches. He was instrumental behind Arsenal’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona in the Champions League. However, the Dutch striker is currently recovering from hamstring injury.

Center back Laurent Koscielny was also part of the Barcelona match, but he would sit out for the Stoke City match due to his back problem.

However, Wenger hopes both the players would be fit for the crunch match against Birmingham City on Sunday when Arsenal will be trying to win their first trophy since FA Cup 2005.

In the absence of Robin van Persie, Arsenal would most probably play Marouane Chamakh up front with Sebastien Squillaci pairing up with Johan Djourou at the center of defense.
