Music Review of Raavan Hindi Movie

Veteran filmmaker, Mani Ratnam, written and directed the upcoming bilingual film Raavan (in Tamil version it is titled Raavanan) is all set to make its worldwide release on June 18, 2010. The movie has the magical combination of Mani Ratnam and A. R. Rahman since the success of 2007 Guru. They are highly expected to make the movie a big success.

The Hindi version of Raavan has Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Vikram in the lead roles where the Tamil version has been simultaneously made with a slight different cast. Key supporting roles were performed by many stars like Govinda. It also has been dubbed in other regional languages including Telugu.

All the versions will be released on the same day in different parts of the city.

Fans are pleased to know that the music and soundtrack of the much anticipated film has been composed by Academy Award winner, A R Rahman. He has composed the music in both the versions. Fans are now expecting some good songs from A.R. Rehman.

The audio of Raavan was launched on 24 April 2010 by the music giant, T-Series, who bought the music right. It is also going to be the first project for Mani Ratnam with T-Series. T-Series has taken decision to promote it through every possible medium.

The teaser of the movie was uploaded in YouTube next day after the launch of audio. Fans can find a 40-seocnd video trailer of Raavan (Hindi) where it is seen that Abhishek Bachchan taking dive from the top of a cliff below river water while Aishwarya Rai emerged from water with a scary face. After that, Abhishek was seen riding a bike in a village path. In the end, he made funny comment.

Radio aired the songs from 23rd April. On 24 April, the music was unveiled at an event and it also hit the stores worldwide on the very same day. A.R. Rehman inaugurated the audio launch festival and performed a song.

Sony Music bought the music rights of Tamil version. The Tamil and Telugu trailers of the film were supposed to be released close to the film’s music release. Now, the Tamil trailers are available on Internet.

Sampooran Singh Kalra, who is better known by his pen name Gulzar, has written few lyrics for Mani Ratnam’s latest film, Raavan. Because of his inspired work, Mani Ratnam sent him a note of thanks. Afterwards, he has given the director a new song for Mani Ratnam’s humility.

Mani Ratnam congratulated Gulzar and said he is very proud for the music. Gulzar said that he has never received such a heartwarming endorsement of his 47-years of career. It was the first thank you letter that drove Gulzar to accept the invitation from Ratnam to attend a screening of the film. He flew to Chennai to see the closing credits and felt that AR Rahman's song was too good to be released without lyrics. He and Mani were speechless. At that time, the extra song came about. What he wrote as an additional number for Raavan, Ab iss shareer ke sirey khol dey/Aur goongi aatma ko bol dey.
