Arsenal to Feature Denilson in Defensive Midfielder Role

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is going to feature Brazilian midfielder Denilson in the holding midfielder’s role in the absence of regular player Alex Song who is out on international duty with Cameroon. Song will be unavailable for Arsenal as he will be representing Cameroon in the African Cup of Nations 2010. Wenger is already dealing with a number of injury problems including Nicklas Bendtner, Robin van Persie and Captain Cesc Fabregas.

Wenger said, “Denilson is an all rounder and will come into that position. He’s very strong in reading the game, in winning the ball back. He has similar qualities. He can do the job without a problem. He has 150 games in the Premier League. People don’t notice how important this player is for us. He can play in every position in midfield.”

Arsenal currently sits in the third place of the league standing with 41 points from 19 games with Chelsea and Manchester United occupying the first and second places respectively.
