After a devastating performance of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL 2009, the KKR has reappointed Sourav Ganguly as the team captain. You know that Sourav lost the KKR captaincy this year and New Zealand’s Brendon McCullum was appointed as the KKR captain, besides appointing former Australia coach John Buchanan as the coach of the West Bengal based franchise. However, the team fared poorly in this year’s IPL.
Cricket fans of West Bengal were unhappy with Sourav Ganguly being stripped of captaincy. Following poor show of KKR, it was pretty much apparent that the team would reappoint Ganguly as the captain. You perhaps already know that KKR also sacked Buchanan as the coach and has recently appointed Dev Whatmore as the new coach of the side.
Dev Whatmore has previous experience of coaching test playing teams like Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. There were several candidates like Wasim Akram, John Wright, Richard Pybus Duncan Fletcher, Dermot Reeve for the coaching job of Shah Rukh Khan-owned Kolkata Knight Riders. Ganguly has said that he is delighted to work with Whatmore and the entire team.
