Lionel Messi: I would Give Everything to Win the World Cup 2010

Lionel Messi has said that he would even exchange all of his club success with a world cup title with Argentina. Recently, the Barcelona striker has faced huge criticism for his failure to replicate his superb club form at international level. There were many who even said that Messi focuses more on his club career rather than his international career. In fact, Lionel Messi, who scored 38 goals to help Barcelona win Spanish league and Champions League last season, was in his shadows during Argentina’s world cup qualifying campaign. Argentina struggled throughout the qualifying campaign, and had to defeat Uruguay 1-0 in their last game to win their place in next year’s world cup finals in South Africa.

However, Lionel Messi has hit back at the claims that he prefers club glory over international glory. The youngster has said that he would give everything to win the much sought-after world cup title. He has also added that winning world cup is the biggest thing he wants to achieve in his career.

Well, personally I do not believe that Lionel Messi does not love to win matches for Argentina while doing so for Barcelona. The fact is that players like Messi spend most of their times playing for their clubs and international fixtures come rarely. So, team combination is a big factor here. For Argentina, it was one of the problems for their poor form during the world cup qualifying tournament.
