Debt Burden: Is Liverpool Becoming Another Leeds United?

Liverpool is suffering a lot this season both in English Premier League and UEFA Champions League. They are out of Carling Cup already. I guess that many of their fans are almost sure that they are going to be without a trophy this season. Right now, the club has nearly £245 million debt. This is a huge amount of money and things are perhaps only getting worse for the club. Liverpool is in serious danger of not finishing in the top four and that would result in not being able to play in UEFA Champions League Next season.
Next season may seem to be some far. Even in this season, they are facing the threat of elimination in the group stage. In fact, on Tuesday night, they can be out of the competition:
“Liverpool will be eliminated from the Champions League if they fail to beat Debrecen OR if Fiorentina defeat Lyon
Well, it is too early to say whether Liverpool is facing the same fate of Leeds United who was among the top 5 teams a decade ago but is now playing in League One. Leeds United suffered because they had massive loan and in the end could not continue. They had to sell their star players. I guess that if Liverpool fails to qualify for Champions League next season then things can really go ugly thanks that debt burden.
