Graeme Smith to Miss Champions League Twenty20 to Recover Elbow Injury before the England Series

South Africa captain Graeme Smith has withdrawn himself from the Champions League Twenty20 inaugural event starting from 8 October 2009 after being advised by the medical committee of Cricket South Africa. The batsman suffered an elbow injury during Champions Trophy 2009 and is all set to start his rehabilitation phase in his attempt to be fit by the time South Africa takes on England in November this year.

Brandon Jackson, physiotherapist of South African team, has said that Smith needs to strengthen his shoulder muscles. He has also said that Smith would be able to get over the injury before the England series.
