Manchester City Reveals Interest in Chelsea Defender Wayne Bridge

(this entry was originally published on Thursday, January 1st, 2009)

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes expressed his interest to sign Chelsea left back Wayne Bridge who is currently the second choice left back of the West London club behind Ashley Cole. Having learnt the news, I guess, you already started thinking about the possibility of Chelsea making another transfer deal with Manchester City after last Summer’s conflict over the acquisition of Brazilian forward Robinho as well as former Chelsea player Shaun Wright-Phillips. Well, there is enough justification of Chelsea being reluctance to deal with Manchester City again in January transfer window. However, you already know that Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari wants to add a striker to his current attacking line up, but the club officials want to sell first before bringing any new blood in the West London club in January.

From this point of view, you can guess that Chelsea might accept a likely £8 million deal that Manchester City is believed to be ready for. However, Scolari might not sell a quality defender like Wayne Bridge who is now the back of Ashley Cole and very often he is brought on as Cole’s substitute. Now, let us see if Manchester City can sign another Chelsea player in January transfer window.
