Lalit Modi Planning Two IPL Tournaments in a Calendar Year

IPL Chairman Lalit Modi is currently planning to launch two tournaments in a year in which one will take place in India and another short tournament will be held in a foreign country. Modi said that he was looking to explore new market for Cricket and that was reason behind his plan to launch two IPL tournaments per year. He also expressed his delight at the response IPL 2009 got in South Africa.


IPL is also asking ICC to set a specific window in the calendar year for IPL when there will be no international tournament so that all the international players will be available for IPL. Modi also added that IPL has already caught international attraction and now he wants to make IPL more popular in the cricket world. He also hinted that America could be a potential cricket market.
