Deccan Chargers was the weakest team in the inaugural season of IPL as it finished 8th in the eight-team tournament. However, Deccan has got off to an excellent start to the second season of IPL and has already won their first four matches in the tournament. Today, Deccan defeated last season’s semi finalists Chennai Super Kings by 6 wickets and is currently leading the point table with maximum 8 points from 4 matches.
Actually, Deccan Chargers has got the right combination this season. They got some excellent performers both in bowling and batting. Captain Adam Gilchrist and his opening partner Herschelle Gibbs have been instrumental behind Deccan’s success in batting. Rohit Sharma has also emerged with his good form. However, the man who contributed most to the current invincible from of Deccan Chargers is left arm spinner Pragyan Ojha. Pacer duo Fidel Edwards and RP Singh are also doing their job flawlessly. Naturally, Deccan has so far been the most frightening team in IPL 2009. In fact, they have been doing what was done by Rajasthan Royals last season when Shane Warne’s team appeared as tournament’s surprise package and continued their surprise till the end of the tournament. Now, let us see if Deccan Chargers could follow Rajasthan’s footstep to win the second season of IPL.
