Arsenal is going to welcome Sheffield United in the third round Carling Cup meeting at the Emirates stadium today. On the back a confidence-booster 3-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers last week, Arsenal seems to be favorite against the Champions side, Sheffield United. However, manager Arsene Wenger might feature a very young starting line up against Sheffield United with a number of players from reserve side likely to be in the first eleven.

Arsenal’s reserve side players like 16-year-old Jack Wilshere, captain of reserve side Gavin Hoyte, Kieran Gibbs and Emmanuel Frimpong are all set to get into the final squad for the Carling Cup match up with Sheffield United. Moreover, some of the irregular first team players like Alexander Song, Johan Djourou and goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski might also be in the starting line up in the evening kick off against the Blades today. Arsenal’s attacking line up will take a new look when Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner will team up with Mexican Carlos Vela in the front.

It is not the first time Arsenal manager Arsene Wegner is going to feature new bloods in their Carling Cup encounter. In fact, Wenger did the same thing for a number of times in the previous seasons. So, Sheffield United, who started their Championship season acrimoniously, can feel relieve ahead of their visit to Emirates stadium. However, the young guns of Arsene Wenger will not be too easy to crack, considering the fact that they will all be inspired to prove their skill and talent to impress their boss Arsene Wenger.

Sheffield United coach Kevin Blackwell will feature James Beatti against Arsenal, even though he is not fully fit. Darius Henderson will miss the match with knee injury, while Sun Jihai will miss the visit to Arsenal due to suspension. Blackwell rested some of the key players for the first and second round matches of Carling Cup, but now they are going to come back with the match. Lee Hendrie, Keith Gillespie and Danny Webber are expected to be crucial for Sheffield United for today’s match.
