All the teams for eight groups of Champions League 2008-09 has been finalized today in the presence of some football legend today at the at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco. In this post series, here I am going to write about the draw of Group B:

Italian giant Inter Milan is the most favorite in Group B, while German side Werder Bremen and Greek club Panathinaikos will be the main competitors for the second place. However, you can not simply write Anorthosis Famagusta off, knowing the fact that they are the first club from Cyprus to have made to the Champions League group stage defeating Greek champion Olympiacos FC in the third qualifying round.
Inter Milan did not have a successful last season in Champion League, but they did not have any problem to clinch the Serie A title with sheer ease. Werder Bremen finished second to Bayern München in Bundesliga last season. Greek side Panathinaikos, on the other hand, did not have a good season at home with finishing third in the league standing, but they clinched a spot in group stage. I think, Werder Bremen and Panathinaikos will lock horn for the second sport in group B, while the surprise side Anorthosis will appear as a threat for the favorites. To me, Anorthosis will be very confident while taking on the oppositions, knowing the fact that they have nothing to lose, but has everything to win in the way. Herein lies an indication of some exciting matches in Group B.
