Deco Scored as Chelsea Defeated Wigan Athletic 1-0 to Reach Top of the Table

Chelsea retained their top place in the league table with a 1-0 victory over Wigan thanks to a free-kick goal from Portuguese midfielder Deco. Chelae got the winning goal in the fourth minute of the match. However, Wigan keeper Mike Pollitt had guilty for the goal because he was out of position for the free kick.


With this victory, Chelsea is now leading the league table on goal difference. Chelsea played attacking football in the first half, but Wigan won more ball possession in the second half, and created a few scoring chances. However, Chelsea defense was up to the mark to prevent the Wigan attacks. Wilson Palacios and Jason Koumas tried to pick up an equalizer for Wigan, but Chelsea goal keeper Peter Cech was in good form to disappoint the home fans. Chelsea will take on Tottenham Hotspur at home next Sunday in their third match of the season. Let us see if Chelsea can hold on the top place in the league standing.
