McEnroe Backs Andy Murray ahead of Wimbledon 2008

Top ranked British men’s singles player Andy Murray is expected to recover from thumb injury he picked up during Artois Championships last week. Tennis legend John McEnroe believes that the 11th ranked player has the talent to challenge Roger Federer in Wimbledon 2008 tournament. McEnroe also sees improvement in Murray as the legendary figure of tennis thinks that Murray seems faster and stronger. Murray did not have a good tournament in the recently concluded French Open 2008 where he was ruled out of the tournament after losing to Spaniard N Almagro in the third round.

The Press Association reported:

"He seems stronger and he seems fitter," said McEnroe of Murray's progress in 2008. "He has an advantage at Wimbledon because there are not a lot of people that feel comfortable there. He's in the mix."

British fans are eager to see Andy Murray competing in the home grand slam, Wimbledon 2008. The tournament kicks off on 23 June 2008. Roger Federer is now gearing up to win his sixth straight Wimbledon title this year as the world no. 1 has been winning the title of Wimbledon for the last five years in a row. Now, let us see if Andy Murray can really throw a challenge for Roger Federer in the tournament.
