Euro 2008: David Villa Becomes the First Hat Trick Man of the Tournament

Spanish striker David Villa has become the first hat trick man of Euro 2008 tournament. Valencia striker scored thrice in Spain’s 4-1 victory over Russia in their opening match. Thus, he is the first and only hat-trick scorer so far in the tournament. Yesterday, Spain played their opening match against Russia and Villa scored the first three goals for Spain to seal a big win for the Spanish side in the tournament. With his three goals, he is now the leading goal scorer in the tournament.

Spain found their first goal thanks to Villa’s 20th minute goal. Then the striker scored his second goal with one minute off the interval, putting Spain ahead of Russia by two goals before the half time. In the second half, David Villa completed his hat trick after receiving a pass from Fabregas and sending it into the left corner of the net. The striker could not have wanted a more impressive start in the tournament. Now, let us see if David Villa can continuous his tremendous goal scoring form throughout the tournament helping Spain win the title of Euro 2008, in what would be the first major football success for Spain after a long time.
