Ana Ivanovic Advanced to the Quarter Final of French Open 2008

World no. 2 Ana Ivanovic continues her impressive run in the women’s singles of French Open 2008. She reached the quarter final of the tournament projected another direct set victory. This time the victim was Petra Cetkovska of the Czech Republic, whom she defeated by 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth round. Ana Ivanovic projected direct sets victories in every previous round in French Open 2008. It took Ivanovic just 54 minutes of action to confirm her berth in the quarter final.

Ana Ivanovic is one of the favorites of French Open 2008 and the way she has been playing so far in this tournament proves her talent and guile to win her first ever grand slam title in French Open 2008. Following the sudden retirement of Justine Henin last month, Ana Ivanovic becomes one of the most favorite for this tournament as well as the top place in the ranking. If Ivanovic can really win the title of French Open 2008, then she might replace Sharapova from the top position if the ranking at the end of the tournament. Ana Ivanovic is going to face Swiss opponent 10th seeded Patty Schnyder in the quarter final. If she can continue her winning run, she might face fellow Serbian third seed Jelena Jankovic in the semi final, and then Maria Sharapova in the final.
