Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils progressed to the semi final of IPL 2008.

Rajasthan Royals:

There were not too many people who were optimistic about the success of Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2008 before the tournament kicked off. In fact, they were considered as the weakest side among the eight IPL teams considering their squad. However, the Rajasthan based team has turned a miracle in the tournament and reached the semi final of Indian Premier League as the first IPL team. They are currently leading the point table and it has been confirmed that Rajasthan Royals will finish the group stage atop the league table. Captained and coached by former Australian leg spinner Shane Warne, Rajasthan Royals are now the most successful IPL team in the tournament. Shane Warne is leading the side from the front with both bat and ball. Warne and pacer Sohail Tanvir are leading their bowling attack, while Shane Watson is contributing a lot to the success of Rajasthan with both bat and ball. Watson is currently the leading run scorer for Rajasthan. Yusuf Pathan, Graeme Smith and Ravindra Jadeja are also doing well for Rajasthan Royals.

Kings XI Punjab:

Kings XI Punjab had a disastrous start in the tournament with losing the first two matches, which was shock for the Punjab supports because Punjab team was considered to be one of the strong team in IPL 2008. However, since then there was no ‘look back’ for Yuvraj Singh led Punjab. Kings XI Punjab is also now on five match winning streak in the tournament. Sri Lankan batsman Kumar Sangakara is the highest run scorer for Kings XI Punjab, while pacer Irfan Pathan is currently the leading wicket takers in the tournament. Captain Yuvraj Singh, Shaun Marsh, James Hopes and Mahela Jayawardene have contributed a lot to the success of Punjab with their batting. Piyush Chawla, Vikram Singh and Brett Lee all are performing well for Punjab with their bowling.

Delhi Daredevils:

Captained by Virender Sehwag, Delhi Daredevils is currently on 3rd position in the point table. Sehwag is leading from the front as captain and currently, he is the leading run scorer of the tournament followed. His opening partner Gautam Gambhir are currently the third highest run scorer of IPL 2008. Glenn McGrath and Rajat Bhatia are doing well for Delhi with excellent bowling performance. The opening pair of Delhi Daredevils, Virender Sehwaf and Gautam Gambhir are in good form and their opening pair seem to be best opening pair in IPL 2008 so far.

Chennai Super Kings:

Chennai Super Kings secures the fourth place in the point table. Captained by India’s ODI and Twenty20 captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings got off to an excellent start in the tournament with four consecutive victories in the first four outings. However, Chennai lost the last three matches. Dhoni is the highest earner of the tournament and Chennai has some excellent cricketers including spinner Muttiah Muralitharan. However, they do not have any more effective spinner to support Muralitharan. Dhoni is the highest run scorer for Chennai, while local pacer Manpreet Gony is highest wicket takers for them. Joginder Sharma is also doing well with his right arm medium fast bowling. Besides Dhoni, their batting line up includes Mathew Hayden, Suresh Raina and Michael Hussey who all are doing well for Chennai Super Kings.
