Donadoni Says, Del Piero Might be in the Italian Squad of EURO 2008

World champions Italy is one of the most favorite for the upcoming EURO 2008 tournament. This is perhaps the most popular tournament after FIFA World Cup in the football world. EURO 2008 kicks off 7th June. Now, football fans are excited with the tournament. Coaches are spending busy time working on their possible final squad for the tournament.

Roberto Donadoni, coach of Italy national football team, has recently indicated that he might bring veteran striker Alessandro Del Piero in the EURO 2008 squad of Italy. Alessandro Del Piero has been in an impressive form so far this season in Italian Serie A with scoring 18 goals for Juventus. The 33 years old striker has won 85 caps for Italy so far and it seems that Roberto Donadoni is impressed with his current form.

AFP reported:

Asked if he would call up Del Piero for the tournament in Austria and Switzerland in June, Donadoni said: "Ten months ago no but now yes.

"The facts speak for themselves but I'll only talk about my squad when the time is right.

"It seems that many people want to create problems for me. There's one thing I'm already certain about, with players such as Del Piero and others, whatever choices I make, they won't cause a fuss."

Del Piero is an experienced player who brought a number of successes for Italy national football team and has been playing pretty successfully for his club Juventus. So, I think, his inclusion in Italian squad for EURO 2008 would simply increase the strength of the squad.
