Arsenal would have to face Premier League rivals Liverpool at the quarter final of Champions League. Arsenal and Liverpool have not met each other in European competition so far. With two leg matches of Champions League and a premier league fixture, Arsenal and Liverpool are going to face each other thrice in a week. All the matches are going to very tight. Liverpool will travel to Arsenal on either 1 April or 2 April in the first leg match and they will host Arsenal on 5 April in a Premier League clash, before the second leg match to be held at the Anfield stadium on either 8 April or 9 April.
Both Liverpool and Arsenal have been in impressive run in Champions league so far this season. Including their both leg victories against Inter Milan, the All Reds is now in five successive win at Champions League including three group stage victories. However, Rick Parry, chief executive of Liverpool said that they would be happy to avoid any English Club at the quarter final. He thinks that all three matches would be very tight as both the clubs know each other well.
IC Liverpool reported:
Parry said: “We’d hoped to avoid the English teams at this stage but statistically there were bound to be two coming together and unfortunately it’s us.
“We play Arsenal in a league game in between so we’ll be playing them three times in a week.”
Parry does not expect the two games next month to differ from their league meetings.
“It’ll be very similar,” he added. “We know them extremely well and they know us.
Liverpool’s recent performance has been very impressive, while Arsenal has not been that much impressive in the league lately, despite their 2-0 triumph over AC Milan at San Siro in the Champions League. I think, the all three matches are going to present one of the most entertaining week of this season in European football.
