Arsenal Disappointed with Eduardo’s Injury, Says Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger admitted that the Eduardo’s injury news came as a huge disappointment for Arsenal which they are yet to recover. He said that Arsenal was not a club where hate is a culture. Eduardo faced a bad tackle by Martin Taylor at the beginning of Arsenal’s last week away match with Birmingham City. He suffered a broken leg and open dislocation in his left ankle. Eduardo was immediately rushed to the hospital and has been released recently from the hospital recently. However, the Croatian striker will remain out of action for nine months.

Wenger also said that he was hopeful Eduardo would be as good as he can be after the surgery. Indicating the example of Abou Diabyd who also had suffered a similar injury in 2006 but back to the squad successfully, Wenger expressed his hope regarding the come back of Eduardo. Arsenal manager thinks his side has been being faced a lot more foul than any other premier league team for the last three seasons.

Sky Sports reported:

"We want to keep our energy to support Eduardo and to focus on what we want to achieve until the end of the season and rest is not our problem any more.

"In the last three years we have been the team who has been fouled the most in the league. We have been the team who has made the least fouls and we are the team who has been punished more than any other in the league."

Arsenal claimed a life ban for the Birmingham City defender Martin Taylor in his post-match reaction. Taylor, however, apologized for the incident and termed it as an accident. Arsenal is currently facing some more injury problems ahead of a busy schedule next week. They are currently leading in premier league with three points ahead of Manchester United at the top of premier league. So, this is indeed a crucial time when Arsenal is going to miss Eduardo. Arsenal’s next premier league fixture is against Aston Villa tomorrow in the premier league match followed by the return leg match of Champions league last 16 match against AC Milan on the road.
