Venus Williams Upbeat for Australian Open 2008 Success

Venus Williams is preparing for the Australian Open 2008, starting from the next week. She is considered to be one of the strongest contenders of the women’s singles title of Australian Open 2008. The winner of the Wimbledon singles is now eager to play the first grand slam of the year with sheer consistency.

Well, it will not be so easy for Venus Williams to win her first singles title in Australian Open this year. However, the American is now in good form and can finish the tournament winning the title.

"It is very exciting, especially going into the Australian, playing so well against someone of Maria's calibre." Venus acknowledged how important the warm-up tournament was, saying: "I knew I was playing well in practice, but a match is different. To have that competition makes a huge difference."

I think, Venus Williams has to face some strong challenges from the stars like Justine Henin, Maria Sharapova, Svetlana Kuznetsova etc. in the competition. Now, let us see if Venus can claim her first Australian Open titles this year.
