India has reached at the final of Twenty20 world cup 2007 defeating hot favorite Australia by 15 runs. The exciting match was something special to all fans of India and Australia as they could experience a memorable match between India vs Australia. I think, this is one of the most exciting matches of this tournament. Indian batsmen, bowlers and fielders were up to the mark in most of the time. However, at one point Australia was in good position and they were going to win the match.

India won the toss and elected to bat first. Indian batsmen could not get a good start as they lost 2 wickets at 41 runs within 8 overs. So, it was until Yuvraj Singh who had missed the last match against South Africa, came into the wicket. Yuvraj Singh played a valiant innings of 70 runs facing just 30 balls. Yuvraj started of hitting a six and he continued his destructive batting throughout his innings. Yuvraj hit five 4s and five 6s that demolished the Australian bowlers. Robin Uthappa helped Yuvraj before he got run out for 34 runs off just 28 balls with one 4 and three 6s. Mahendra Singh Dhoni scored another firing innings of 36 off just 18 balls in which he played four 4s and one 6 before he got out in the last over of the innings.

Australian bowlers looked very dangerous initially. However, they looked helpless when Yuvraj, Dhoni and Uthappa were dominating. Indian batsmen piled on a fighting total of 188 runs losing 5 wickets. Brett Lee bowled well as he conceded only 24 runs in his six over. However, he could not take any wicket. To tell the truth, Mitchell Johnson bowled very well conceding just 31 runs and taking two important wickets of India. Mitchell Johnson took the wicket of Virender Sehwag and Gautam Gambhir and sent India back foot. However, later on India came back and dominated over Australian bowlers.

Chasing 189 runs, Australia could not start well as Indian batsmen did not gave any chance to Australian openers to be aggressive. However, after Adam Gilchrist got out, Mathew Hayden started coming out with his powerful shots. At one point, Indian bowlers looked ordinary while Hayden was hitting 6s one after another. Hayden scored 52 runs off just 47 balls in which he hit four 4s and four 6s. When Hayden got out being played on by Sreesanth leaving Australia 134 for 3 in the fifteenth over, Australia was still in the match. Actually it was when Symonds got out after just 12 balls of the dismissal of Hayden and it was the turning point of the match. Symonds played a superb 46 run innings off 26 balls hitting three 4s and two 6s. Michael Clarke was still in the wicket and he looked dangerous to the Indian bowlers. However, Harbhajan come up with a superb performance in his last over when he conceded only two runs and took the wicket of Michael Clarke. Harbhajan conceded 15 runs in his first over and at the end his bowling figure looked very impressive. He conceded 24 runs in his 4 overs taking one wicket.

Actually, Sreesanth was the start among the Indian bowlers. He come up with an impressive first spell of 3 overs in which he conceded only 6 runs with one wicket and one maiden. In the last over he presented with the most wanted wicket of Hayden. With the dismissal of Hayden, India came back to the match. So, Sreesanth conceded on 12 runs in his four overs taking two important wickets for India.

India played remarkably well today and the most impressive thing is that played well even while under pressure. Indian fielders were up to the mark. India will face their arch rival Pakistan in the final of Twenty20 world cup. This is going to be the first India vs Pakistan final in any world cup tournament. So, no doubt, it is going to be a classic match.

  1. Yes I am too, thrilled by the way India showed their supreme performance and kicked Australlia where they needed the most, in the butt!

MS Dhoni has left me completely awed at this amazingly simple yet stark accomplishments as the yound Indian captain. I wrote a post of praise for him as soon as the match finished which I had never done before.
