US Open 2007: Sharapova and Djokovic are Happy with the Draw

Recently the draw of US Oepn 2007 has been held at Empire State Building. Actually draw for a grand slam is very important because sometimes it is seen that two most favorite players meet before the semi final and then one of them definitely has to go out of the tournament though both of the them were supposed to reach at the final. Now, ahead of the US Open 2007 tournament, most of the favorite player’s draw was well from that point of them. In women’s singles the draw of Maria Sharapova was excellent because she does not have to face any top players to reach at the final.

On the other hand, in Men’s singles, the luckiest player is Serbian rising star Novak Djokovic who has won ATP Masters in Montreal recently defeating top three players including Roger Federer in the final. Djokovic is now thought to be strongest contenders for Roger Federer in US Open 2007. The good news is that Djokovic does not have to meet Federer before final. On the other hand, the draw was not so good for Roger Federer as he may face no. 4 ranked Andy Roddick in quarter final. American fans are not happy with this draw because Roddick is the only hope for the Americans.

New York Post reported:

"If you had asked me before the draw, I would've told you six women can win it," draw analyst Patrick McEnroe said. "And five of the six women are in the top half of the draw - Justin Henin, Venus, Serena, [Jelena] Jankovic and Ana Ivanovic. The sixth is Sharapova, and she doesn't have to go through the top players to get to the final."
His name is Novak Djokovic, 20, the Serbian phenom who rocked Federer's world two weeks ago in winning Montreal. He stands a puncher's chance against Federer, poised to break every tennis record ever set. Djokovic received a sweet draw yesterday.
"At the moment, the second favorite is Djokovic," McEnroe said.

So, it seems that US Open will see some classic matches in both Men’s singles and Women’s singles. I hope US Open 2007 will bring seer enjoyment for the tennis fans around world. Let us see what happen at Flushing Meadows.
