Andy Roddick is the top ranked American in the ongoing US Open 2007. So, undoubtedly, US Open 2007 is the biggest hope of the Americans. However, in the first round match, Roddick had to play against another American Justin Gimelstob who is going to retire from tennis this year.

The match was not so easy for the world no. 5 Andy Roddick. In the first set, Roddick had to win the set by tie breaker. However, in the next two sets Justin Gimelstob could not show any resistance against Andy Roddick. Roddick won the match by 7-6 (8-6), 6-3, 6-3. Andy Roddick is also a favorite to the title of US Open 2007.

Sports Network reported:
"It was a weird situation for me, kind of all day. Because, you know, I'm fond of Justin as a person, but at the same time this my most important event of the year," said Roddick. "So as much as I would have loved to have kind of joined in and banter and do the whole thing, at the same time I felt like I had a job to do and something to accomplish out there."

Andy Roddick’s recent performance is not so alluring. He played in the final of US Open 2006 where he lost to Roger Federer. Now, let us see if Andy Roddick can take a revenge of his defeat over Roger Federer in US Open 2007. To tell the truth, it would be hard for Roddick to take the revenge over Federer.
