Sparta Prague vs Arsenal: Fight Against Racism

Racism in football is a sad matter. Most football fans are good and they are totally free from any racist attitude or behavior. However, there are some black sheep in every herd and some football fans are racist too. I am happy that UEFA has taken a zero tolerance attitude against racism. In the upcoming first leg of Third Qualifying Round between Sparta Prague and Arsenal, there is some fear of racist behavior from some bad fans and it is nice to see that Sparta Prague authorities are taking every precaution in this regard.

Fearing a possible punishment from UEFA, about 500-700 security guards will be deployed at Sparta's AXA Arena for Wednesday's qualifying round match, Sparta spokesman Lukas Pribyl said.

"There's no place for racism here," Sparta captain Tomas Repka added. "We will do all we can to get rid of it. I don't want any racists at our stadium. I don't play soccer for them."

About 30-40 undercover officers — three times the usual number — will be dispatched among the fans and the club will also increase the number of cameras that monitor the behavior at the stands, Pribyl said. He declined to give details.

Racism has to be eliminated from world football. Football is a global sports. It does not belong to any race or color. It is equally popular among people of all background and colors. UEFA deserves special credit for having a tough attitude against racist behaviors.
