Rugby World Cup 2007: Namibia Squad

Namibia is not a big name in the Rugby world. However, Namibia qualified for the last two Rugby World Cups in 1999 and 2003. Now, Rugby World Cup 2007 will be their third consecutive world cup appearance. Last two times, they could not impress with tier performance as both times they eliminated from the preliminary stage of the world cup. Namibia has recently declared their 30 member squad for the world cup. Hakkies Husselman is now the coach of Namibia though just four years ago in 2003 he played for Namibia in the world cup.

Hakkies Husselman included nine players who also played with him in 2003 world cup. Some of his teammates were Kees Lensing, Herman Lintvelt, Heino Senekal, Melrick Africa. Now, the question is how they will perform in the coming world cup. Hakkies Husselman said that their all and only focus was on Rugby world cup and being underdog sometimes gave some advantages.

Namibia will play in Pool D along with Argentina, Georgia, Ireland and host France. France is definitely the most favorite in this pool but I would be happy to see some excellent performance from Namibia.

The Namibia squad for Rugby world cup 2007 is given below:

Forwards (16): Skipper Badenhorst, Jacques Burger, Tinus du Plessis, Jané du Toit, Nico Esterhuyse, Hugo Horn, Domingo Kamonga, Uakazuwaka Kazombiaze, Kees Lensing, Herman Lintvelt, Michael Mackenzie, Johannes Meyer, Jacques Nieuwenhuis, Johnny Redelinghuys, Heino Senekal, Marius Visser.

Backs (14): Melrick Africa, Heini Bock, Lu-Wayne Botes, John Drotsky, Du Preez Grobler, Eugene Jantjies, Bradley Langenhoven, Tertius Losper, Deon Mouton, Morné Schreuder, Jurie van Tonder, Piet van Zyl, Emile Wessels, Ryan Witbooi.
