Injury refrains Amelie Mauresmo from playing in US OPEN 2007

Former top female tennis player Amelie Mauresmo is not going to participate in the upcoming US Open due to her poor performance. More than a month ago, this former Wimbledon Champion played in Federation Cup held in France. She lost in the semi-final. The Star online reports:

The world number seven was quoted on the site as saying she needed time off to recapture her best form.

The former Wimbledon champion has not played since taking part in France's Fed Cup semi-final defeat by Italy just over a month ago.

Before that, the athletic 28-year-old had struggled since returning to action in March after a two-month layoff with appendicitis.

She has not played a tournament since Wimbledon, where her title defence ended with a fourth-round defeat by Czech Nicole Vaidisova.

Maurismo said that she had wanted some time off to gain her winning desire. Earlier, she spent two months due to her appendicitis. Like Maurismo, Chinese female tennis star, Li Na has decided not to play for her muscle injury.
