India vs England second ODI will be held on 24 August in Bristol England is now leading series by 1-0. After winning the test series at English soil after 21 years, India started their ODI series with ordinary performance both in bowling and batting in the first ODI match that they lost by 104 runs. Now, ahead of the second ODI India must have to determine to win the match in order to come back in the series against England.
In the second match, I do not know if Indian management will bring any change in the squad or not because most of the players could not play their natural game in the first match. India took four specialist bowlers in the first ODI but I think this is not a good idea to keep the balance in the squad. Except Zaheer Khan no other bowlers could show any resistant against the English batsmen. India might take five bowlers in the 2nd ODI match against England.
On the other hand, England played very well in the first match in both departments. With two centuries, I think their batting line up looked very strong to Indian bowling and their bowlers also played well keeping line and length and taking some early wickets. So, I think, England team will remain unchanged for the upcoming Second ODI match of the series.
Indian Batting Strength
After losing the first ODI match, Indian team is now in pressure. Indian batting line up said to be one of the best among the test playing countries. However, in the first ODI match, Indian batsmen could not show any resistance as they got all out 184 loosing the match by 104 runs. It is true that Indian bowlers also failed to impress but the target of 289 was not too big for the Indian batting line up including, Sachin, Sourav, Dravid, inform batsman Yuvraj Singh etc. Dinesh Karthik and Captain Rahul Dravid tried to put on some runs but could not lead India to chase 289 runs.
Now, in the second ODI match, I think, India will not bring any change in the batting line up as they do not have any option in the squad except Robin Uthappa. However, I hope Indian batsmen will come back with their form and play well in the second ODI match.
England Batting Strength
England is now in relief as they could at last won a match in this tour. After losing the test series, English players were in huge pressure because they lost to India at their home soil after 21 years. So, ODI series is the last chance to take revenge. England started the ODI series with a smashing 104 run victory over India in the first ODI match. Both their bowlers and batsmen impressed their fans with their performance. Especially their batsmen could engage a huge total of 288 runs batting first in the match. Losing just two wickets, English batsmen could show that they have the capability tohelp England win the ODI series. Two English batsmen- opener Alastair Cook and one down batsman Ian Bell scored two brilliant centuries. The second ODI match will be held on 24 August 2007 in Bristol.
I think England has a deep batting line up and most of their batsmen are in good form at present. So, in second ODI match, England batsmen have to lead England to win the match and increase the lead 2-0. Indian bowlers will have to face really a big challenge from the England batsmen in the second ODI.
Indian Bowling Strength
India has suffered a defeat in the first ODI match of the series against England. The second ODI match will be held in Bristol on the 24th of August. Indian players neither play well in batting nor in bowling. So, in both departments, Indian players failed to impress. The devastating defeat of Indian team also hurt their fans. Indian bowlers could not create any pressure on the English batsmen rather they fall in huge presser at this moment.
India’s four bowler strategy did not work well and thus in the second ODI , I think, team management may think of playing five specialist bowlers because of ordinary performance of Indian bowlers in the first ODI match. Except, Zaheer Khan, no other bowlers could show any resistance against English batsmen. In the upcoming second ODI match, off spinner Ramesh Powar and medium pacer Munaf Patel can be given a chance in the first eleven instead of Ajit Agarkar and Piyush Chawla.
England Bowling Strngth
English bowlers performed excellently in the first ODI against India. Fast bowler James Anderson tremendous performance with bowl as he took four Indian wickets conceding just 23 runs in 10 overs. Anderson’s performance will surely inspire the other English bowlers to play well in the second match as well. Andrew Flintoff also played well after coming back to the team. England spinner Monty Panesar could not perform expectedly.
However, I think, before the second ODI match, English bowlers are now in good mood and they will be inspired to play well in the second ODI match. However, if India’s star batsmen come back with their form then, for sure, England bowlers will have to face a real challenge.
Online Live Scores, Updates and Commentary
English players at last could give an opportunity to the home crowd to cheer on as England won the first ODI match in style against the test series winner India. This was a solid start for England and not they must be confident to win the series as well. Now, England will try to win the second ODI to increase the difference.
On the other hand, India is now in pressure as they have to recover the mistakes and come back soon in the series in order to win the ODI series as well. It is true that six ODI matches are still to be held and India has the opportunity to come back and win the series. Ahead of the forthcoming Twenty20 world cup, both England and India will definitely try to win the ODI series in order to have a sheer confidence before the tournament.
The second ODI match, I think, will be very crucial for both England and India. I know that hardly any fans will miss the match but sometimes, it becomes tougher to stick to the match and enjoy every ball because of personal and professional busyness.
