Tiger Woods is not only the greatest golfer of our time but he is also a family man. His strength comes from his close ties with his family. Take the example of his close relationship with his father Earl. 12 years ago, Tiger Woods was just 21 years old and he won his first championship in The Masters. His father gave him an emotional bear hug. Tiger Woods still remembers this bear hug.
The pair embraced each other beside the 18th green at Augusta National moments after the 21-year-old Woods romped home by an unprecedented 12 shots in his first major as a professional.
The young American astounded the golfing world with his spectacular march into the record books, becoming the tournament's youngest champion and the first black player to win a major title.
"Now that my father is no longer here, I realise how important that hug was to me on the last hole," Woods, now aged 31, told reporters during preparation for his 13th Masters.
Earl, a lifelong mentor and friend to his son, died last May after a long battle with cancer and next week's tournament will be Tiger's first Masters since his father's death.
It’s so sweet from Tiger Woods. While I am writing this entry in my blog, I feel sad for him. Yes, Tiger Woods is extremely successful but he has not his father with him now. I know that many of you have your father. Do you have good relationship with your father? Why not thank your father again today and follow Tiger Woods.
