ICC Champions Trophy 2006: Will Australia Win?

ICC Champions Trophy 2006 has already been at the field since 7th of this month. Cricket lovers are now in full pace with this tournament. It has been a hot cake for conversation among the friends, among the passengers in the bus or in the tea stall and definitely people are roaming around the question regarding the expected champion of this most important tournament after World cup in one day international cricket. To many, the name of the champion team might be South Africa, India, West Indies, New Zealand, Sri Lanka or others. There is no question about the performance of these teams. However, I will bet on Australia.

It has been seen that this tournament and distress have been synonymous for Australia since the first event of this tournament as Australia, being the world champion in the last two consecutive world cups, could not overcome the semi-final threshold yet in past events of this tournament. However, for this time, I think Pointing has the highest probability to lift the trophy. Australia has just own the tri nation one day tournament in Malaysia where the other teams were India and West Indies. The most important thing lies on the recent performance of the young players and the promising performance of their old fighter McGrath in that tournament. Mike Hussey is in his top form and can play a key role in Australia’s batting.

So, Australia is most likely to be the champion of this tournament and at the verge of Ashes it would work like a tonic for them. Now, let’s see who will end the day with smile and success.
