ICC Champions Trophy 2006 Continues the Trade Mark Character of Cricket

The title can make you face couple of questions. At first, what is the Trade Mark character of cricket and how ICC Champions trophy 2006 is going with that character? It is undoubtedly true that the uncertainty, a part and parcel of cricket, still continues in the ICC Champions trophy 2006 in India.

First, come to the defeat of Sri Lanka to a demolished Pakistan. Pakistan national cricket team has been the most focused name in the cricket world since the oval controversy which was followed by the four match suspension of regular captain and most experienced middle order batsmen Inzamam. Then the controversy over captaincy and Younis Khan’s reluctance to lead the team as a dummy captain, and the resign of the former chairmen Shaharyar Khan make the things complicated. If it is the psychological problem for the team then the physical loses came in the way two front line bowlers being proven positive in the dope test. As a result, Sri Lanka became favorite for the first match against Pakistan. It was not a day dream though Pakistan could make all the calculation in veil after a stunning victory by 4 wickets.

On the other hand, it is becoming a new secret in cricket that Australia never wins Champions trophy. The base of this idea is that since this tournament was first launched in 1998, this is the fifth tournament of this championship; however, Australia could not even reach the final of this championship. However, they could win two world cup championships during this time. They seem to walk in the same way they did in the previous tournaments as they lost their first match against West Indies whom they defeated a month ago in the final of a tournament held in Malaysia. Apparently, Australia is favorite for this tournament too but their ever growing distance with this tournament puts a question mark here.

So, it is clear that ICC Champions trophy 2006 has already seen some of the thrilling match where uncertainty played its role in its way as it does in general in cricket.
