Now days, talk shows are very popular in many countries. In a talk show, the host forwards a topic to a group of people who specializes on that topic. The group then discusses about the topic. Some times, the talk show is joined by an audience of normal people and they also share their experience. In another version of the show, the audience can talk with the host through phone. I have been watching cable television since 1994 and Oprah Winfrey is my most favorite talk show.

At present, in America the Oprah Winfrey Show is the top rated talk show. Hosted by Oprah Gail Winfrey, an African American, the show covers a wide range of topics including: celebrity interviews, homosexuality, child problems, house decoration, health, fashion, spirituality etc. Oprah Winfrey is a host, book critic, magazine publisher, and an academy award nominated actress. She is the only black billionaire of the world. Time magazine declared her as one of the hundred most influential people in the world.

Born in January 1954, in Mississippi, Oprah’s mother was a housemaid and her father was a coal miner, who later became barber and a city councilman. Oprah spent her childhood with her mother and grandmother. Her grandmother taught her to read. She also said that Oprah had a natural talent for talking and communicating. She could talk as if she were on a stage. She used to interview her doll. I have not seen her as a child but definitely she is a talented talk show host. Below are some of the reasons why I like Oprah Winfrey Show:

I like this show because Oprah brings many ordinary people in her show and talks about their problems. I have seen many people talking about their love life, sex, and many other problems.

The episodes on health are very informative. I remember in one episode Oprah showed the bad effect of being over weight and smoking.

Oprah also talks about problems of the teenagers.

Along with the interviewees and audience, Oprah also shares her personal problems. This creates a very friendly environment.

Since Oprah is a woman, she talks about various feminist issues in her shows. She also talks about women of other countries who are facing problems.

Through her show, Oprah also made other people very popular as. One such example is Phillip Calvin McGraw, a Psychologist. To fight a lawsuit, Oprah hired this person and she was very happy with his work. Later, she asked him to join her show. Together they discussed various psychological issues and all those episodes were very successful. Now Phil Mc.Graw has his own show.

Oprah is also engaged in various humanitarian activities. She brought many humanitarian and civil activists in her show.

Aside from Oprah, there are many other talk shows such as The Jerry Springer Show but none has become so successful like Oprah. She is known as the “Talk Show Queen.”
