Intel Encourages Notebook Makers to Work on Android Platform

Intel is now encouraging Taiwan-based notebook makers to work on Intel/Android solutions. It looks strange as the processor giant has had a long-standing working relating with Microsoft’s Windows OS in the PC market. Reports also suggest that Intel is going to display a number of devices featuring Intel/Android platform at the upcoming Intel Developer Forum (IDF), scheduled to be held from 12 to 13 April in Beijing.

Well, it seems to be a reaction from Intel for Microsoft’s recent decision to work with Intel’s competitor ARM.

It is pretty much understandable that Intel is now looking to make the Intel/Android platform successful so that the processor maker can put some pressure on Microsoft. In fact, Intel has already asked 6-8 notebook makers from Taiwan to work with Android-based platform.

With Intel looking to build a strong partnership with Google’s Android platform, it does not mean that Intel would stop working with Microsoft. However, what is significant is that there would now be a balance in the PC market as far as process and operating system are concerned.

More than that, it seems a war could grow between Windows/ARM and Intel/Android platforms in the increasingly popular tablet PC market.

Future of Intel in Tablet PC Market Looks Bleak

Intel is the market leader when it comes to the processor market of desktop and laptop, but the processor giant is yet to enter into the lucrative tablet PC market. Intel core-I series processors are now leading the laptop and desktop PC market, while its Atom series processors are dominating in the netbook market.

Now, Intel is going to make its bet on the tablet PC market too. No doubt, it is a bit late for Intel to make business in this market, but the most important thing is that its first player in the tablet market, Atom Z670, does not seem to be a very strong competitor for the currently popular Nvidia Tegra 2 and ARM processors in the tablet market.

Intel Z670 CPU is a single core processor running at 1.5GHz and is capable of running two threads and it is priced at $75. In contrast, Nvidia Tegra 2, is a dual-core processor and costs three times less than the Intel Z670 processor. The only good side of the new tablet-centric Intel processor is that it is the most power-saving processor from Atom series at 5W.

However, still the Intel processor seems to be priced too high to make considerable competition with the existing processors in the tablet PC market.

Intel’s next generation chips will be able to play Blu-ray 3D

Intel is one of the most popular names among laptop and desktop users. It is hard to get anyone who don’t use this processor or don’t hear the name of it. Intel is the world’s largest semiconductor chip maker based on revenue.

Intel updates its chips on a regular basis and gives the latest product to its users. Thanks to their invention, we are getting faster and smarter technology in our hand. Next generation laptop chips are perhaps going to be another revolutionary chip made by Intel itself.

It is heard that next generation laptop chip will come with a dozen of new feathers that will help to improve the graphics performance and will be able to play Blu-ray 3D movies.

Chips based on the Sandy Bridge architecture will allow the users to play Blu-ray 3D movies on their laptop and at the same time preserve battery life. Users won’t have to buy a separate graphics processor to specifically view 3D content.

According to Knupffer, Sandy Bridge chips will go under production later this year. If the announcement of the company officials right then it will hit store shelves in the first half of next year.

On September 13-15, there will be an Intel Developer Forum in San Francisco to give more focus Sandy Bridge's graphics performance.

It is interesting to see that both CPU and graphics processor will be integrated on a single chip. However, what makes it different from the current generations of chips based on the Westmere architecture is that it has the CPU and graphics core on one piece of silicon, but as separate unites.

PC World reported:

The higher levels of integration will also help Intel cram in more transistors to improve graphics performance, Brookwood said. The Sandy Bridge CPUs and GPUs will be made using the 32-nanometer process, while with current chips, the CPU and GPU are made using the 32-nm process and the 45-nm process, respectively.

No doubt, it will make graphics performance easier and faster. Let’s see how this invention will change our life.

Intel Core i7: Some Reelections

I was reading the report about Intel Core i7 in the website Asia Cnet. I recommend you to read this entry because it contains some important information about the fastest processor in the whole world. Intel is the market leader in the process segment and the company is bringing out new models on a regular basis. The race for bringing of the fastest processor in the world is going on for many years and Another company called AMD is also trying to do the same thing. But so, I think that the arrival of this Intel Core i7 will surely post the interest about Intel among the consumers and it may increase the sale of the company in the time of recession.
