US Open 2007: Svetlana Kuznetsova Reaches at the Semi Final

Svetlana Kuznetsova has defeated Hungarian Agnes Szavay by 6-1, 6-4 in her way to the semi final of US Open 2007. Fourth seed Svetlana Kuznetsova was excellent in the match.

Kuznetsova did not give any chance to Agnes Szavay in the match and won the match in style. This is going to be her first semi final appearance in US Open since she won the US Open title in 2004. Svetlana Kuznetsova will face her countrywoman Anna Chakvetadze in the semi final. So, it seems that US Open 2007 is going to see an all Russian semi final.

She'll face another Russian next, because No. 6 Anna Chakvetadze swept the last six games to eliminate No. 18 Shahar Peer 6-4, 6-1 in the day's first quarterfinal.
It will be Chakvetadze's first Grand Slam semifinal. Kuznetsova can count on an edge in experience, having made it to the 2006 French Open final, in addition to claiming her only major championship at Flushing Meadows three years ago.

Svetlana Kuznetsova has won her first and till date, only grand slam title in her career in US Open 2004. I think, this Russian tennis star has potential to win the title of US Open 2007.
