US Open 2007: Andy Roddick Gets into The Quarter Final

Andy Roddick has got into the quarter final stage of US Open 2007. In the fourth round match, Roddick defeated Czech Republican Tomas Berdych to ensure his quarter final in US Open 2007. Actually after winning the first set by 7-6, Roddick was playing well in the second set but Tomas Berdych had to take retire because of falling in injury. Roddick was ahead of 2-0 in the second set.

Andy Roddick is the fifth seed of US Open 2007. Roddick is now the only America remains active at this moment in Men’s singles. So, the home supporters will be happy to see him progress further in the competition. However, defending champion Roger Federer is the probable opponent of Andy Roddick in the quarter final. So, it will be very difficult for Roddick to survive against Federer.

ABC News reported:

"I haven't been tested much this tournament so far," said the fifth-seeded Roddick, who could face No. 1 Roger Federer next.

Roddick was leading 7-6 (6), 2-0 in the fourth round when Berdych quit, making him 0-9 against top-10 opponents at Grand Slam tournaments. Roddick got through the second round when Jose Acasuso stopped because of a bad knee while trailing two sets to one.

I think, Andy Roddick has the potential to win the US Open 2007 title. However, his upcoming quarter final match will be crucial for him. So, the Roddick fans can pray for him so that Roddick can pass through the quarter final match. Here, it is needed to mention that Andy Roddick has won his first and only grand slam title in 2003 US Open.
